Think tank claims suspensions evenly meted out

(Calif.) A libertarian public policy think tank has suggested that the Trump administration reverse a long-standing protocol aimed at reducing suspensions in public schools, arguing it is a necessary strategy to keep order in the nation’s classroom.

The Pacific Research Institute, founded in 1979 and based in San Francisco, disputed widely embraced data from the U.S. Department of Education that found suspensions as practiced in many districts were most often applied to students of color, and thus, represented a form of racial discrimination.
